The Kay Room overlooks Kay Street, one of Newport's most interesting architectural neighborhoods. The wide sidewalks are shaded by some extraordinary trees including giant beeches and what may be the largest ginkgo tree in the city just across the street.

Many of these houses were – like the Hilltop Inn – built by the professional class at the turn of the century and designed by some of America's most admired architects; Newporters call them "Doctor Houses."

From the Kay Room guestroom, French doors lead onto an enormous private balcony where the afternoon sea breeze plays across the neighborhood's turreted roofs and through the tree tops, spiriting all your cares away.
